Lexus ES: Warning Notification Function Malfunction

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK PROBLEM SYMPTOM (WARNING NOTIFICATION FUNCTION)

(a) Check the problem symptom.

(1) Check the problem symptom of the warning notification function.

The multi-display screen does not show a warning message even though a warning light turns on or the multi-information display indicates a warning.

The multi-display screen shows a warning message even though a warning light is not on and the multi-information display does not indicate a warning.

The multi-display screen shows a warning message different from the warning light or the multi-information display.

HINT:

  • The warning notification function sends information to the service center through communication.
  • Carefully confirm the conditions that caused the malfunction in order to determine if a temporary problem with the radio wave signal conditions caused the malfunction.

INSPECT WARNING LIGHT

(a) Check if the indicated warning light or message is listed in the following table.

HINT:

Only messages listed in the table are included in the warning notification function.

CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Bus Check.

(e) Check that all ECUs and sensors that use CAN communication are connected.

CHECK METER WARNING LIGHT

(a) Check that the warning light of the combination meter assembly illuminates and a message displays on the multi-information display when there is a malfunction, and do not when there is not a malfunction.

OK:

There are no problems with warning lights or warning messages.

HINT:

The warning notification function of the telematics system uses the warning notification signals sent and received by the meter/gauge system. Therefore, if the meter/gauge system is not operating normally, the warning notification function will not operate normally.

CHECK NAVIGATION SYSTEM

(a) Check if the navigation system is operating and functioning normally.

The navigation system is normal.

CHECK METER WARNING LIGHT

(a) Check that the warning light of the combination meter assembly illuminates and a message displays on the multi-information display when there is a malfunction, and do not when there is not a malfunction.

OK:

There are no problems with warning lights or warning messages.

HINT:

The warning notification function of the telematics system uses the warning notification signals sent and received by the meter/gauge system. Therefore, if the meter/gauge system is not operating normally, the warning notification function will not operate normally.
