Lexus ES: How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

  • Before performing troubleshooting for the front radar sensor system, perform troubleshooting for the pre-collision system.

PROCEDURE

1.

VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

PRE-CHECK

(a) Measure the auxiliary battery voltage with the power switch off.

Standard Voltage:

11 to 14 V

If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery before proceeding to the next step.

(b) Check the fuses and relays.

(c) Check the connector connections and terminals to make sure that there are no abnormalities such as loose connections, deformation, etc.

CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM*

(a) Using the Techstream, check that the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

4.

CHECK FOR DTCs*

(a) Check for DTCs.

Body Electrical > Front Radar Sensor > Trouble Codes

(b) Make a note of any DTCs that are output.

5.

CHECK VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY*

(a) Using the Techstream, check for Vehicle Control History.

Body Electrical > Front Radar Sensor > Utility

(b) Record any output Vehicle Control History.

Result

Proceed to

Vehicle Control History codes are not output

Vehicle Control History code X2026 or X2028 is output

RECONFIRM VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY*

(a) Using the Techstream, clear the Vehicle Control History.

(b) Using the Techstream, check for Vehicle Control History.

RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT*

(a) Clear the DTCs.

Body Electrical > Front Radar Sensor > Clear DTCs

(b) Reproduce the vehicle conditions that were present when the DTCs that were noted were stored.

HINT:

Refer to each corresponding DTC for details on the detection conditions.

(c) Recheck for DTCs.
